Brothers Jacob and John grew up on their family farm in Bunn North Carolina. They were born into a farming family of five generations. Skybird Roofing is the second family business started by brothers in the Vollmer family. Their grandfather, John Vollmer and his brother Bernie Vollmer started a farming chemical supply company on the Farm back in the 1980’s called Farm Boys Agri-Service. The farming business began as a tobacco production farm and then transitioned into an organic fruit and vegetable farm in the early 2000’s. At that time, the farm also established another branch of business in the agri-toursim space, created by the brothers parents, Russell and Mary Vollmer. This is where the brothers affinity for customer service began. The farm offered farm tours, family fun weekends, and pick-your-own berries. Since the early years of 12 and 10, Jacob and John were working in the farm market, speaking with customers and establishing the foundation of experience that serves them today at Skybird Roofing. When he’s not ensuring Triangle homeowners receive exceptional roofing solutions, you’ll find Jacob scaling new heights on the climbing wall. In the years leading up to Skybird Roofing, Jacob worked as a Lowes Pro at Lowes Home Improvement serving construction contractors to source supplies and materials for projects across the triangle. He gained a strong understanding of brand quality across the many trades offered through Lowes and became an expert in all roofing supplies and material. John Vollmer serves as General Manager at Skybird Roofing, bringing a decade of customer relations excellence to every client interaction. A Western Carolina alumnus, John ensures that Skybird’s commitment to transparent communication and customer satisfaction remains at the forefront of every project. His exceptional ability to build trust and maintain lasting relationships has made him instrumental in Skybird’s reputation for reliability and professionalism. Prior to Skybird Roofing, John worked in the North Carolina hemp industry supplying farmers with hemp genetics through the NC Department of Ag, Hemp Pilot Program. He then went on to work in multiple states out west, managing cannabis production facilities for national corporations. Here John sharpened his abilities to be adaptable in all business relations across the states he worked. When he’s not managing Skybird’s day-to-day excellence, you’ll find John riding the waves along the Carolina coast. Travis Batts leads Skybird Roofing’s production operations as Production Manager, leveraging eight years of project management expertise to ensure every installation runs smoothly from start to finish. Travis orchestrates complex roofing projects with precision, coordinating crews, materials, and timelines to deliver exceptional results on schedule. His meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills keep projects moving efficiently while maintaining Skybird’s uncompromising quality standards. Known for his upbeat energy and dedication to excellence, Travis approaches each day with the same enthusiasm he brings to his love of Chick-fil-A and unwavering support for the Carolina Hurricanes. His leadership ensures that whether it’s a simple repair or complete roof replacement, every Skybird project receives the careful planning and expert execution it deserves.
